About the club
South Dakota's first and oldest bass club
B.A.S.S. Nation Chapter 848 · Sioux Falls / Brandon, South Dakota
Who we are
Soo Bass Masters is South Dakota's first and oldest bass club — a bass fishing club based in the Sioux Falls and Brandon area. We're a B.A.S.S. Nation chapter (B.A.S.S. Nation Chapter 848) and a member club of the South Dakota B.A.S.S. Nation Trail.
Our members chase largemouth and smallmouth across the region's glacial lakes and the Missouri River reservoirs, from spring openers through fall. We're a welcoming group: boaters and non-boaters fish together, and newcomers are always encouraged to join.
How tournaments work
Angler & co-angler
A boater (angler) and a non-boater (co-angler) share a boat, but each fishes their own five-fish limit. Boaters compete against boaters, non-boaters against non-boaters.
The draw
A draw at the meeting before each event pairs each boater with a co-angler. The lake is picked by member vote roughly two weeks out.
Angler of the Year
Points add up all season toward separate Boater and Non-Boater AOY titles. Catch and release, always.
Where we fish
Our waters
The club and the SD Trail fish across the region's best bass water:
Northeastern SD glacial lakes
Clear, natural prairie glacial lakes full of largemouth and smallmouth.
Missouri River reservoirs
Big water on the Missouri River system — strong smallmouth and largemouth.
Northwest Iowa
The Iowa Great Lakes — Spirit Lake and the Okobojis.
